American researchers have identified a bacteria carrying a highly transmissible antibiotic-resistance gene in a US farrow-to-finish operation with 1,500 sows.In the research, published recently in Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, investigators from The Ohio State University (OSU) report the finding of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).The findings raise concerns about possible foodborne transmission of CRE, which affect human health.

SCHENECTADY, NY (WRGB)--An administrator from the Kingsway Nursing Home says a type of Legionella bacteria was found in their building.But, he says that it is not the same bacteria that's connected with Legionnaires disease.They say the levels are not particularly high- but does require them to heat and flush the water system.

4 hours 59 minutes agoNH1.comALSTEAD — Department of Environmental Services announced that coliform bacteria has been found in the water of Alstead Vilas School."Most coliforms are not harmful and are common in the environment," Harrison Mackey, Drinking Water Quality Manager, said."Because they are so prevalent and come from the same sources as many pathogenic bacteria, water systems are required to monitor for total coliform as an indicator to evaluate water quality."
