More patients' health insurances have high deductibles and co-insurances, meaning they must pay a portion of their medical bills until they reach an annual limit, said Donna McNeish, a financial counselor at the Millcreek Township outpatient cancer center."Before the Affordable Care Act was passed, most patients' insurance covered 100 percent of the costs," McNeish said."Now we are seeing more plans with a maximum of 80 percent coverage until you reach the $6,850 annual out-of-pocket maximum.It comes as a surprise to many patients."
