Food Safety News : declared in Almost 30 Longo’s meat products now recalled for E. coli risk

Recalled products include ground beef, veal and pork; hamburger patties; meat balls; meat loaf; and stuffed peppers. More than two dozen beef and veal products are now included in a recall of Longo's brand ground meat in Canada because of possible E. coli contamination. There is concern consumers may have the recalled products in their homes because best-by dates run through this week. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased," the CFIA recall notice states. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings," according to the expanded recall notice.

Pennsylvania's Marcho Farms recalls 5,600 pounds of meat over E. coli scare
The USDA says the Illinois meat inspectors found bacteria in products there on Tuesday. The meat was produced between April 11 and 14 and sold to retailers and food service companies in Illinois, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. SOUDERTON, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania business is recalling more than 5,600 pounds of boneless veal, ground veal, beef and pork because of concerns it may be tainted with a potentially deadly E. coli bacteria. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the recall Thursday by Marcho Farms of Souderton. There are no confirmed reports of illnesses from the meat.
