Everybody knows that."Ticks are known carriers of Lyme Disease, which if left untreated, can result in serious health problems. Ticks are known to feed on people and pets, and they can also carry very serious diseases, including Lyme Disease. Just a few years ago, Lyme Disease was almost unheard of in the Bay Area but ticks carrying the disease are now widespread. "We have a lot of ticks out this year," Vice President of the Bay Area Lyme Foundation Bonnie Crater said. Experts are warning that because of the wet winter, there could be a larger-than-usual number of ticks.

Jacobs appointed to Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Task Force

Jacobs appointed to Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Task ForceSen. Chris Jacobs has been appointed to the state Senate's Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Task Force by SenateMajority Leader John Flanagan. Jacob's efforts coincide with May being National Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month. "It's an honor to be appointed to this critically important task force," Jacobs said. "It is incredulous that while surrounding states acknowledge, diagnose and treat this very real disease, New York State's efforts have lagged behind. Jacobs was an advocate for $400,000 that was included in the recently enacted state budget to combat Lyme and tick-borne diseases.
