IBM's artificial intelligence technology Watson has signed a deal with Hangzhou CognitiveCare in China to implement Watson for Oncology. The deal will see doctors in China use the service to create personalised, evidence-based cancer treatment options. The Watson for Oncology service is able to work because Memorial Sloan Kettering has trained the AI, creating a cognitive computer programme. It works by analysing big volumes of medical literature to identify individual treatment options as well as scoring and ranking medical literature and quickly summarizing patient records.
