LAKE GEORGE -- Million Dollar Beach and Dog Beach in Lake George remain closed.The Department of Environmental Conservation closed the beaches on Tuesday after tests on water samples came back positive for high levels of a fecal bacteria.The DEC sent CBS 6 a statement on Saturday which said in part "Sampling results that came back showed decreased levels of coliform bacteria; however samples for E. coli are above or well above the Department of Health State Sanitary Code threshold pf 235 per 100 ml."From late morning through the afternoon on Sunday, a steady stream of would-be swimmers arrived at Dog Beach only to be thwarted by the "beach closed" signs.

Lake George beaches reopen after having high levels of bacteria
LAKE GEORGE, NY (NEWS10) – The Department of Environmental Conservation has reopened Lake George Beach, (also known as Million Dollar Beach), and Dog Beach after test results showed both were safe for swimming.Test samples collected on Saturday showed decreased levels of coliform bacteria and E. coli below the Department of of Health Sanitary threshold making it safe for swimming.Some people say the state isn't doing enough to protect people.
