A health warning was issued last night over popular pavement fountains after high levels of bacteria were found in the water.Two sites were closed at Somerset House in London and Gloucester Park in Gloucestershire following an investigation by The Mail on Sunday.The fountains feature powerful jets of water which spring up from the ground.

EAST BROOKFIELD - The town beach on Lake Lashaway has been closed because of a high bacteria count found in testing this week.Sue Gordon, a clerk for the East Brookfield Board of Health, said regular testing at the beach found the high coliform bacteria count.Because the bacteria could cause health problems if ingested, the beach was closed to swimming.
