Flint Mayor Rebukes Donald Trump Before Visit
As Donald Trump prepares to visit the embattled city of Flint, Michigan, today, its mayor has already offered a swift rebuke to the Republican presidential nominee."Flint is focused on fixing the problems caused by lead contamination of our drinking water, not photo ops," Mayor Karen Weaver said in a statement on Tuesday."The mayor also notes that city of Flint employees and the staff at the Flint Water Plant are focused on dealing with the continued contamination in the drinking water and cannot afford the disruption of a last-minute visit," the statement reads.Trump and his campaign did not notify her office that he planned to arrive, Weaver said, and they haven't reached out since the town's water crisis was officially recognized as an emergency in December 2012.

FLINT, MI -- Activists and politicians gathered outside the Flint Water Plant Wednesday morning were puzzled by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's appearance in the city roughly two months before the election."Mr. Trump, I've gone one question for you and it's a pretty simple one: where the hell have you been?"shouted Ron Bieber, Michigan AFL-CIO president, during a press conference by Flint Rising outside the plant ahead of Trump's expected visit.A small group of protesters gathered outside the water plant, including Flint activist and artist Desiree Duell who unfurled a water bottle wall that was held up behind speakers during the press conference that included Gerald Kariem, director of UAW Region 1D, and Minister Rigel Dawson of North Central Church of Christ in Flint.
