- The Georgia Department of Public Health is investigating a possible outbreak of Legionnaires' disease at a Lockheed Martin plant in Cobb County.Health officials say four cases of the potentially fatal disease have been reported at the Marietta plant since December 2015.Legionnaires' disease is a severe form of Pneumonia that people usually become infected with after inhaling microscopic water droplets that contain Legionella bacteria.Lockheed Martin is working with an outside company to test and possible treat its water.

The Department of Public Health has confirmed four Lockheed Martin employees have been diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease in the past twelve months.The DPH has been working with Lockheed and has recommended diagnostic testing and treatments for affected employees.Officials say Lockheed Martin is collaborating with a private testing lab.A spokesperson with Lockheed Martin issued the following statement:In the past twelve months, there have been four Lockheed Martin employees with confirmed Legionnaires' disease.

Lesser, Custom)MARIETTA, Ga. – Four employees at the Lockheed Martin Marietta facility have been confirmed to have Legionnaire's Disease, officials confirmed Monday.While there is no indication that the four contracted the malady at the Marietta plant, the facility is increasing testing of water at the plant to ensure its safety.Rob Fuller, Lockheed Martin's communications senior manager, released a statement Monday afternoon:In the past twelve months, there have been four Lockheed Martin employees with confirmed Legionnaires' disease.There is no confirmation the employees contracted the disease at their workplace in Marietta.
