Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease Hits Florida State UniversityTALLAHASSEE, Fla.- An outbreak of the hand, foot and mouth disease has hit a small group of students at Florida State University.The viral infection, that popped up in students living quarters, caused several event cancelations Tuesday night.The infection is known to cause mouth sores, skin rash and fever, according to the Centers for Disease Control.There is no treatment for the disease and it takes about five days to run it's course.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease Outbreak Reported at Florida State UniversityFraternity rush at Florida State University was canceled on Tuesday night due to a campus outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease, according to the Tallahassee Democrat."Some fraternity members contracted the disease, so the university canceled several events, including rush, on Tuesday night as a precaution to limit exposure for students while various buildings were being cleaned," FSU spokeswoman Browning Brooks said.There are at least a dozen students currently infected.The infection is relatively common among infants and small children, but adult outbreaks are rare.
