A Nashville high school teacher's influence on his students hit home when the entire student body took a trip to his house to serenade him.Ben Ellis, who's taught Latin and Bible studies at Christ Presbyterian Academy since 2008, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in December.Recently, Ellis' adoring pupils were informed that he had decided to discontinue medical treatment — and that there were buses waiting outside the school to transport everyone to the Tennessean teacher's home, The Tennessean reported."It was really just a spur of the moment thing," said CPA headmaster Nate Morrow.

NASHVILLE -- One Nashville-area teacher's cancer story went viral over the weekend after country music star Tim McGraw posted a video of more than 400 students and faculty visiting and worshiping with the teacher last week.Ben Ellis, a teacher at Christ Presbyterian Academy , was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in December.On Wednesday, students at CPA learned Ellis made the decision to discontinue his treatment, according to a statement from the school.The high school principal, Parker Altman, then got on the intercom to tell the students buses were waiting out front to go visit Ellis.

A lesson in compassion isn't something you expect from high school students.But a group of 400 students from Nashville's Christ Presbyterian Academy showed up outside the home of a cancer-stricken to sing songs of worship when he could no longer teach.Ben Ellis, who teaches Latin and Bible studies at the school, is battling an aggressive form of cancer.He had been teaching until last week, working through his chemotherapy and radiation treatments because being at work helped him through it.
