MONDAY, Sept. 19, 2016 -- A large, new study challenges previous research that suggested vasectomies might increase the risk of prostate cancer or dying from it.In the latest finding, researchers found no connection between vasectomies and overall risk of prostate cancer, or of dying from the disease. The American Cancer Society epidemiologists reviewed more than 7,000 prostate cancer deaths, as opposed to the just over 800 prostate cancer deaths that were studied by Harvard scientists in a 2014 study."Vasectomy is an effective and inexpensive long-term method of birth control," said new study author Eric Jacobs.

Alcohol has dramatic effects on patients with breast cancer and its recurrence, especially in early stages.A recent study presents a very specific evidence regarding the link between alcohol, estrogen levels, and a cancer-causing gene.If annually, more than 230,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer only in the United States, the situation in Europe is even worse. These days, breast cancer is one of the most common cause of death among women and its link with alcohol was studied further after the statistics showed that more than 50% of women diagnosed with the disorder are consuming at least one glass of wine per day.

'Moonshot' group has 10 ways to speed up the search for cancer cures'Moonshot' group has 10 ways to speed up the search for cancer cures Sep 7The largest and longest study ever to look at the persistent notion that vasectomy might promote prostate cancer has found that the sterilization procedure does not increase the chance of developing or dying of the disease. For the new report, American Cancer Society researchers analyzed prostate cancer cases and deaths among 42,000 U.S. men who underwent a vasectomy, and 321,000 men who did not.The men were followed from 1982 to 2012 as part of a much bigger, ongoing cancer society study designed to assess risk factors for all types of cancer. After controlling for issues such as age and smoking status, the overall incidence of prostate cancer, the incidence of aggressive prostate cancers, and death rates were the same among the groups, regardless of sterilization status.
