ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- In honor of October being national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Ashland police department is joining the fight against the disease.During the month of October, the Ashland Police Department will display pink ribbons on their vehicles in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.The ribbon will emulate the "I" in the police logo.The department said in a Facebook post, "As a public entity in our community, our police vehicles are out there each and every day, and our citizens see them.

Pink was the colour of the day as cancer survivors and their supporters flocked to Southcentre Mall for the 20th-annual CIBC Run for the Cure.Dressed in colourful wigs and costumes, approximately 7,500 Calgarians came out to participate in the five and one-kilometre runs in support of breast cancer research and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF)."It's just great to see everyone's energy," Avneet Atwal, run director with CIBC said."And it's just fantastic watching the community come together."Atwal urged Calgarians to get involved with Run for the Cure to show support for breast cancer survivors and share in the sense of community the event brings to Calgary.
