The American Cancer Society invites everyone to attend the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Chicago Walk (www.makingstrideswalk.org/chicagoil).It's happening Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Soldier Field.The noncompetitive, inspirational walk begins at 10:00 a.m.Opening ceremony emcees from Making Strides TV media ABC 7 News, traffic/transportation anchor Roz Varon, a breast cancer survivor, and news co-anchor Judy Hsu will start off the event with live music, entertainment and activities.According to the American Cancer Society , in 2016 an estimated 246,660 women and 2,600 men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,450 women and 400 men will die from the disease this year.This year's Making Strides Chicago event also will recognize the inaugural group of Real Men Wear Pink, who are wearing pink every day in October and raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and American Cancer Society programs and services.Since 1993, more than 12 million American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer supporters have raised more than $750 million nationwide.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time when awareness is raised and when the public is urged to get themselves screened for breast cancer.According to BreastCancer.org, about one in eight women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.It is expected that 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2016.The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition says that from 2008-2001, breast cancer was the most common type of cancer diagnosed among Massachusetts females, accounting for 29.3 percent of these women.
