Awareness campaign coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness MonthThe Portland Police Bureau will add a touch of pink to officers' uniforms during the month of October, which has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.The month-long effort to spread the word was announced Saturday."Officers in all divisions may be donning pink caps, socks, bootlaces and patches as a show of support for all those affected by breast cancer," the bureau said in a news release.Officers also plan to carry fact cards with information on breast cancer, particularly focusing on the importance of early detection and treatment.
