Steven and Jane HolmesA LAMPETER couple campaigning to raise awareness of lung cancer say not enough is being done to target a disease that kills more people than breast and bowel cancers combined.Steven and Jane Holmes, of Ffarmers, believe much can be done to improve the situation in Wales, which has one of the worst survival and mortality rates in Europe.The couple – stalwarts of Sarn Helen Running Club – have spoken out during Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Jane having previously been diagnosed with the disease despite being a fitness fanatic and lifelong non-smoker.Steven said: "Jane has just completed the Snowdonia Marathon Eryri, one of the hardest marathons in the UK, proving that nothing is impossible and sending out the message of hope to others with lung cancer.

In honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center is offering free screenings through the month of November.Officials say Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women.More people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined.Dr. Ravi Patel, Medical Director at CBCC, states that while smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, there are other risk factors as well.
