Adults who said they never watched TV or videos during family meals were much less likely to be obese than those who always watched something during mealtime. Not watching at dinnertime seems to reduce the risk of obesity in adults. One way to slim down might be turning off the television when it's time to eat. The study looked at data from nearly 13,000 Ohio residents who ate at least one family meal in the previous week. Further research is needed to determine why eating together may influence your weight.
These factors might raise epilepsy risk. However, Razaz said it's likely that excess weight interacts with other genetic and environmental factors that might contribute to epilepsy risk. Excess weight increases the risk of preterm birth and birth defects, which in turn increase risk of epilepsy, the researchers said. Wolf said the findings are fascinating, and mothers' weight hasn't been considered a risk factor for childhood epilepsy. For childhood epilepsy, compared with normal-weight women, the researchers associated:11 percent increased risk with overweight.
