Pittsburgh Steelers draft cancer survivor RB James Conner according to : ESPN

PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers just added a bruising running back -- and a great story -- to their NFL draft stable. Conner becomes the Steelers' first Pitt draftee since cornerback Hank Poteat in the third round of the 2000 draft. He's tough, he's smart, he's a guy who will come here and work every day." Conner joins an impressive lineage of Pitt tailbacks in the NFL, including LeSean McCoy, Curtis Martin, Craig Heyward and Tony Dorsett. Pitt's James Conner, who captivated college football by overcoming a diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2015, was selected by the Steelers in the third round with the 105th overall pick.

Then the phone rang on Friday night as the third round of the 2017 NFL draft neared a close. Yet Steelers running backs coach James Saxon wanted to make one thing very clear after the Steelers took him with the 105th overall pick in the draft. It was the Pittsburgh Steelers offering him a job. Pittsburgh took Wisconsin linebacker T.J. Watt in the first round on Thursday. And just like that, Conner's journey from cancer patient to cancer survivor to professional football player was over.

But with the 105th selection, they took running back James Conner out of the University of Pittsburgh. Conner is a great story for many reasons: He was the 2014 ACC Player of the Year. It was good enough for first-team All-ACC honors, and now he'll do what he's done since arriving at Pitt -- he'll go to work at the Steelers' South Side facility.
