E. coli found in South Taranaki water supply
Investigations are underway after E. coli was found in south Taranaki's water supply. "We're on our way right now to Waverly to door-to-door knock and hand out 'boil water' notices. In 2016 a third of Hawke's Bay's Havelock North population became ill with campylobacter when the town's water supply was contaminated after its believed sheep faeces were washed into a water bore. The South Taranaki District Council says routine checks picked up the problem in Waverley. Council spokesperson Gerard Langford says around 300 residents are being told to boil their drinking water.
Napier water tests negative for E coli
Napier City's water supply tested negative for E coli today but chlorination will continue. Despite having a clear reading today across the whole of Napier's water network council needs three of these negative tests in a row in order to be considered clear. Napier residents can expect regular water updates via Facebook, radio and newspapers, and other channels as the chlorination programme continues. Yesterday the water supply had a positive reading for E coli at one of council's sites at Park Island, but no boil notice was issued. This means that the smell or taste of chlorine may be detectable in the water in Taradale, Bayview and the central suburbs of Napier.collected by :Lucy William
