More flour products added to recall list over E. coli concerns quoting : ctvnews

CTV WinnipegThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding a recall of Ardent Mills flour and flour products due to possible E. coli contamination. The recall applies to varieties of several brands of flour and flour products, including Creative Baker, Brodie, Golden Temple, Purity, and Robin Hood. For a complete list of recalled products, visit the CFIA website. The products were sold across the country, the CFIA said in news release. Anyone who bought the affected products should return them to the store or throw them out.

Ardent Mills is recalling various brands of flour and flour products due to possible E. coli O121 contamination. It is not safe to taste or eat raw dough or batter regardless of the type of flour used, as raw flour can be contaminated with harmful bacteria such as E. coli O121. Food contaminated with E. coli O121 may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

E. coli O121 from flour sickens 30 in Canada

"Canadians are advised not to use or eat any recalled flour or flour products. Ardent Mills has expanded a recall of flour as Canadian authorities investigate an E. coli O121 outbreak that has sickened 30 people. Products in the expanded notice were made using 11 loads of Canadian wheat common to the prior recalled flour products and may contain the pathogen. A sample of Robin Hood flour from a patient's home tested positive for E. coli O121. Brodie Self Raising Cake and Pastry Flour 2.5kg"It is not safe to taste or eat raw dough or batter regardless of the type of flour used, as raw flour can be contaminated with harmful bacteria such as E. coli O121," said CFIA.
