Alec Baldwin latest celebrity to battle Lyme disease

Supporters of chronic Lyme disease believe that the ongoing symptoms stem from persistent infection with the bacteria which causes Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi. While the Centers for Disease and Control estimates approximately 30,000 cases of Lyme disease each year, the number is likely much higher. Lyme disease is not transmitted sexually, and there is no evidence that cats or dogs who have Lyme disease can transfer the disease to their owners, according to the CDC.
