Gardens under menace from 'game changing' plant illness
The Royal Horticultural community tells the illness can arrive in the Britain on imported stock, threatening gardens. however RHS head of plant health Gerard Clover warned which it was may just a matter of time before it spreads to the Britain. The Britain's Environment section (Defra) said which the menace from illnesses like Xylella are of "soreal & growing worry". as informed in Bacterial pest Xylella fastidiosa, that restricts water movement in plants, has caused devastation in mainland Europe, wiping out entire groves of ancient olive trees in Italy. & it is just a matter of time before the illness is introduced to the Britain on imported plants, the Royal Horticultural community (RHS) said. Garden favourites, including lavender, hebe, rosemary & flowering cherry are between the 350 types of plants at high danger of contagion. Gerard Clover, head of plant health at the Royal Horticultural community, said: "Xylella is a game-changer for gardeners & the horticultural industry & it is vital that we understand its possibility influence.
