(KOIN) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to the disease that will claim the lives of an estimated 40,450 women this year.As their way of raising awareness for breast cancer this month, the Salem Police Department will add a pink patrol car to its fleet."We are honored to roll out a pink patrol vehicle on October 1," said Deputy Chief Steve Bellshaw, whose division is responsible for the department's fleet."We want to show our support for all survivors and the cause of curing breast cancer."The car will be out for regular daily use and at police events in October.
