According to Texas Beach Watch, right now there are high levels of fecal bacteria around beaches in Corpus Christi and Galveston. Texas Beach Watch is a program under the Texas General Land Office that monitors the water levels all along the Texas coast. General Land Office press secretary Brittany Eck said that high levels of fecal bacteria is normal if it has been raining. With the high levels of fecal bacteria, water contact is discouraged, but the public can still use a beach, as long as local authorities have not closed the beach. Texas Beach Watch will be testing the waters daily until the levels go down.

Along the Corpus Christi bayfront, recent reports show three locations under "high" advisory, showing bacterial levels greater than 104cfu/100ml (colony forming units per 100ml of water).
