PEOPLE.com : reported that Val Kilmer Says He's Healing from Cancer in Reddit AMA

Val Kilmer shared for the first time that he is recovering from cancer after months of denying that he was suffering from any serious health issues. He told PEOPLE in March that he's "doing great."Also during the Reddit AMA, Kilmer also spoke about working with some of Hollywood's biggest stars. "A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer," one fan asked. "I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed," the Top Gun star wrote. The 57-year-old actor participated in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Wednesday, where he addressed a question about Michael Douglas saying that his one-time costar was battling oral cancer, a disease Douglas beat himself in 2013, during a Q&A in October.

Val Kilmer appears to have confirmed that he was previously diagnosed with cancer, despite his past insistences to the contrary. Last year, the 'Top Gun' star posted a lengthy status on his official Facebook page, after Michael Douglas told the press that Val had been diagnosed with cancer and "things were not looking good" for him. A year earlier, Val posted a similar status on Facebook when speculation suggested he was suffering from cancer, writing: "I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation. However, during an Ask Me Anything on the discussion website Reddit, Val briefly opened up about his health, admitting that he had cancer in the past.

Rumors about his health first surfaced in January 2015, when it was reported Kilmer had been hospitalized for bleeding from his throat. Speculation surrounding Val Kilmer's health has been circulating for about two years now, but the actor has mostly been quiet about the subject. During a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session, however, Kilmer addressed his health, admitting he had "a healing of cancer."A fan asked Kilmer about Michael Douglas' 2016 comments that suggested the "Top Gun" star was battling cancer. At the time, Kilmer said Douglas was "misinformed.""What was the story behind that?" the Reddit user wrote. "He was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen altho healing all the time," Kilmer answered.
